Scraperboard is a powerful medium for capturing the raw beauty and intense expressions of wild animals. Each scratch reveals fine details, bringing out the textures of fur, feathers, and features with striking precision. The contrast of black and white creates a bold, dramatic effect that highlights the animal’s character and presence. These artworks not only capture a moment in nature but also evoke a sense of depth and emotion that is both captivating and timeless. 

Unlike traditional drawing or painting, scraperboard (or scratchboard) is a subtractive art form, which means I remove material rather than adding it. I start with a black surface and scratch away to reveal a lighter layer underneath. Scraperboard Panels are typically a clay-coated board covered in black India ink, which allows for precise scratching.
